Bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms: respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis), lower respiratory tract (bronchitis, including exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, atypical pneumonia, pneumonia), skin and soft tissues, otitis media; gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer (Helicobacter pylori eradication in combination therapy), MAI (including atypical, in combination with ethambutol and rifabutin), chlamydia.

Contraindications  Clarithromycin 500 mg
Hypersensitivity (including erythromycin and other macrolides), porphyria, concomitant use of cisapride, pimozide, astemizole, terfenadine (see "Interactions").

Dosing and Administration Clarithromycin 500mg
Orally, intravenously. Dosing regimen, as well as a course of treatment is prescribed individually, taking into account all evidence, susceptibility and complexity of infection. During treatment of infections caused by Mycobacterium avium, sinusitis, and severe infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae, - from 500 to 1000 mg 2 times a day; however, the maximum daily dose of 2 grams. The dose for children under 12 years - calculated 7.5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight every 12 hours, and the maximum daily dose to 500 mg. In patients with renal insufficiency (creatinine Cl with less than 30 ml per minute or serum creatinine concentration more than 3.3 milligrams per 100 milliliters), the dose should be reduced by 2 times. The maximum duration of treatment in this patient group - no more than 14 days.
